Do Something Amazing May 31, 2009

This weekend I was given one of the most amazing gifts of my life.

Let me start from the beginning. Three weeks ago I decided to do something amazing. I didn’t know what that would be at the time but I knew it had to be something that made a difference in people’s lives.

Finally, I decided to hold a free seminar for high school students hoping to teach them how to excel in school.

Have I done anything like this before?? … No.

Was I scared… Yes.

Was I inspired by the thought.. HELL YEAH!!

So I sent out emails to my DWD team and the Sydney Dream Team to see if anyone wanted to participate.  What happened next was truly incredible…

Suddenly, there was this phenomenal amount of support coming my way literally propelling me into action. Messages came from all angles offering words of motivation and encouragement about how great this idea was. It was absolutely exhilarating.

All of a sudden I was just springing into action putting the entire seminar together. And not once did I feel like I was working. All I felt was a ridiculous desire to contribute and to give these students an amazing experience.

When you need it… it appears

Two days before the seminar I start getting the jitters.

Am I good enough?

Is this too big?

Have I rehearsed enough?

And then out of nowhere I get a call from Chris Toliopoulos from my Team 7 DWD. We haven’t spoke since DWD and WHAM! He calls right when I needed a boost. And if you’ve met Nick, you know the man is like a booster pack! He could make you feel good about tying your shoelaces in the morning. 30 minutes on the phone with him and I was BULLET PROOF!

Chris… thanks so much buddy.

At 10am that morning I had the privilege of meeting Tony Gallagher, one of the more senior guys on the Sydney Dream Team. He had a ridiculously busy day but he was willing to take the time out of his day and come offer me some support. But there was a surprise for me. 30 seconds after meeting him, he told that he was introducing me to the seminar! What an amazing feeling to have such an accomplished man take time out of his day to introduce me.

Tony… it was honour! Thank you.

The experience

Amazing. Never in my life did I feel so guided!

I was privileged to be apart of a beautiful girl’s discovery about the amazing inspiration she already is. She is an amazing soul and the sheer joy she felt about her life’s calling sent vibrations across the entire room.

I witnessed the phenomenal change in 3 amazing men who finally realised they are going to face the world on their terms. I saw so much passion in their eyes that I couldn’t be thankful enough for being a part of that moment.

And I met 2 amazing parents who shared these same amazing moments with their kids. They showed their children how much they loved them by playing full out in all the activities without reservation. They absolutely showered the room with strength, joy and love.

If I could be half the parents they are, I would be truly blessed.

Reflection

There’s a part of me that wonders if these moments really happened because it was so magical. But I know it did.. no movie script in the world could ever be this good.

This blog entry is dedicated to the amazing individuals that I had the privilege of spending time with this weekend. I can’t wait for the amazing transformation the world is about to witness because of you. Don’t Hold Back!

And if I can offer a hallucination to you my dear reader..

Do something amazing today…. because what you will discover is something beautiful that is truly life-changing.

bsolutely right back at you Nivin!! I was so deeply honoured to say I was front row with my boys at your first seminar. What you opened in my sons minds, the pure joy on their faces as you helped them find their purpose there are no words to adequately thank you enough. We talked all the way home about the limitless possibilities life has for them now. You my friend have an amazing gift and ability to fully connect with those young minds and the boys will definately will let you know how they are going! I have just requested lesson outlines for this week coming and we have done some cool mindmaps for exam notes. The ripple effect has begun!!DWD people DO NOT miss this man if he graciously offers this again!!! Nivin you have COMPLETELY blown me away !!! Love and profound gratitude , Wendy, Jack, William and Matthew.
